Sydney Olympic Football Club is committed to offering a technical and coaching structure that provides a football development program ensuring players and coaches reach their potential.
After a very successful 2018 which featured a Men’s 1st grade NPL1 premiership, as well as a Women’s 1st and Reserve Grade NPL 2 Premiership, Sydney Olympic will now be one of only two club’s in NSW with their Men and Women’s football program in the NPL 1 competition.

As demonstrated in 2018, Sydney Olympic provided several opportunities for identified players in our program to participate in talented player sessions, programs and overseas trials. Through the partnership with Bundesliga giants FC Schalke 04, senior player George Timotheou signed a professional contract with FC Schalke 04 last month. For the 2019 season and beyond we will be increasing these development opportunities for players and coaches as the partnership strengthens.

For the 2019 season our coaching structure will involve a combination of full-time and part-time coaches which will work together to ensure a football program that not only focuses on the development of all our squads but also identified player’s through additional personalised and specific sessions.

The Club is excited to confirm that Ante Juric in his capacity as General Manager – Football will work with coaches in our SAP, Youth and Senior Women’s programs to create an environment of football excellence around retention, recruitment, player management and development.

In addition to this role, Ante will coach the Under 18 squad. This squad will retain some of our best existing talent as well as seek to recruit talented players looking to progress into senior football at Olympic.

Abbas Saad will continue to undertake the role of 1st Grade Coach as well manage the Men’s senior football program in a full time capacity, importantly ensuring alignment of the Under 18 and 20 squads with 1st Grade.

George and Arthur Beltsos, on the back of a successful 2018 to date will continue to oversee our Senior women program as it moves into NPL 1 for 2019.

Club CEO John Boulous stated:
“To have not only two exceptional coaches, but Olympic legends like Ante and Abbas, in conjunction with an exceptional line-up of experienced coaches driving the Club’s football program is a huge boost for players and coaches in our program”.

“We are focused on development and we believe the football program and opportunities we can offer players currently, at our club and those wanting to join our club is second to none”.
“Importantly, our coaches have been involved with Olympic for many years and are committed to ensuring our football program continues to strengthen”
“To have youth coaches as experienced as Ivan Petkovic and Eric Hristodoulou who have a proven track record of developing youth players, combined with Kerim Baba who has come to Olympic from the FC Schalke 04 set-up highlights our football program as a clear destination for talented players looking to progress and reach their potential’.
“Our Women’s program will move into NPL 1 this season and our coaching staff have been involved in our women’s program for several years and are committed to retaining, developing and recruiting the best talent”.
