2011 was a spectacular year for many at Sydney Olympic FC, but for one teenager the year couldn’t of been any better.
 
Whilst the dream to play football in Europe is upheld by many footballers, Nedim Basic witnessed his dream become a reality. The former Hills Sports High School student and Sydney Olympic FC U/18s player was offered an opportunity of a lifetime at the conclusion of the 2011 season and joined German side, Wuppertaler SV Borussia.
 
The former Australian U/17’s representative is described by Wuppertaler SV Borussia coach Christian Schumacher as a ‘midfield all-rounder’ and is regarded as a remarkable talent with promise. Nedim has left a great impression in Germany and has received much praise and acclaim by supporters and coaches alike.
 
One person in particular is thrilled with Nedim’s success, his proud mother, Nusrela who revealed that the decision to play football in Germany was by no means difficult for her teenage son.
 
“It wasn’t difficult for Nedim to go to Germany, soccer was always his dream especially to play soccer at a high level”, Nusrela said.
 
Nusrela is happy to hear that her son has obtained much praise in Germany and like any proud parent is eager to share his accomplishments.
 
“They like him very much in Germany. He has been written about in the papers twice and he is very loved”, Nusrela added.
 
Unfazed by the attention and praise that he has received Nedim continues to work hard and is definitely a talent that is ‘one to watch’. Nedim will remain with the German side until the end of their season and hopes to remain playing football in Europe in order to achieve his ultimate goal and continue living his dream. The talented attacking midfielder/fullback is without a doubt destined for big things in the ‘world game’.
