Aaron Lim is living his Dreamposted by on February 13, 2012
Aaron Lim (11) is living his dream between the goal posts and has recently been selected in the Australian National Futsal U/12’s Boys team that will tour New Zealand in November this year. Aaron’s decision to become a goalkeeper arose through fascination and admiration and from a young age, Aaron was constantly in awe of goalkeepers and their role on the football field. “ It always amazes me when goalkeepers have the biggest kick than most of the players” Aaron said. Not one who is afraid to get himself dirty, Aaron relishes several aspects of the goalkeeping game, which he candidly shared. “ I enjoy diving for the balls and rolling on the field,” he said. The 11-year-old shot-stopper is already destined for big things and in the last few months has won a National Futsal Championship title and also celebrated a spectacular grand final victory in the Kanga Cup. The sky is truly the limit for the youngster who wishes to emulate the success of his favourite players and fellow goalkeepers, Mark Schwarzer and Iker Casillas who are among his greatest influences. Like his idols, Aaron aspires to play abroad and has a few destinations in mind. “ I would like to play at a professional level when I grow up. Playing as a goalkeeper in the Premier League in England or in Spain would be my dream,” Aaron said. A dream that Aaron knows requires hard work and dedication to achieve. Already displaying wisdom beyond his years, Aaron believes it is important for players to ‘have fun playing soccer’ and to ‘try 110% in training sessions and in games’. “The way you train is the way you compete,” he added Aaron is looking forward to the upcoming season and cannot wait to represent the nation during the 12-day tour of New Zealand this November. “ I am happy to represent Australia and to play in New Zealand later this year”, Aaron concluded. Sydney Olympic FC would like to congratulate Aaron on his selection and achievements and would also like to wish him the very best of luck throughout the 2012 season and the New Zealand tour.
