SOFC to take on the boys out West

Due to the unavailability of Belmore Sports Ground, the Defending Champions will travel out west to face Blacktown City FC, on Sunday 5th August 2012 at Lily Homes Stadium.

The 'Blues' maintained their winning streak last weekend in Round 17 of the competition after they celebrated a 2-1 victory over APIA Leichhardt Tigers. The Blues issued a disappointing performance in the 1st half, however they soon increased their intensity in the second and returned to their dominating ways. Captain Phil Makrys put the 'Blues' on the score sheet early in the second half after he converted from the penalty spot. The 'Blues' continued to attack and fan favourite Chris Triantis soon netted Olympics' second and final goal. APIA obtained a late consolation goal in the 90th minute, after Adam Casey converted a penalty.

The 'Blues' were again in action, this time against Manly United FC at Cromer Park on Wednesday night. A slow start saw both teams struggle to capitalise upon their chances and the score remained at a deadlock at the half time break. Paul Henderson issued a great performance between the posts for the defending champions and did well to thwart Manly United FC. However it was Zac Elrich who was deemed Olympics' hero after he netted the sole goal and winner in the 89th minute.

This Sunday the boys will meet Blacktown City FC in what is set to be an entertaining encounter. In their previous meeting in R7 of the competition an 11 v 9 Duel featured, as two of Olympics' men were given their marching orders. Although their previous encounter ended in a draw, both sides will be eager to take out all three points in order to secure a position in the finals.

Blacktown City FC will enter the match in postive spirits after they obtained a 3 nil victory over the bottom of the table Parramatta FC outfit. Ryuji Miyazawa will be one to watch for Blacktown, as well as, former Newcastle Jets forward Sean Rooney who returned from the Indonesian Super League.
