SOFC vs BLACKTOWN SPARTANS

Sydney Olympic FC host Blacktown Spartans at the Sydney United Sports Centre on Sunday 1st July 2012, with kick off scheduled at 2 pm.

Despite the venue change, the match will be considered a home fixture for the defending champions. The Sydney Olympic FC Reserve Grade side will also be in action on Sunday at the Sydney United Sports Centre, with the Reserve Grade fixture scheduled to kick off at 10am.

The Defending Champions will enter the Round 14 clash in high spirits after they celebrated a 2-1 victory over rival club, Sydney United. Chris Triantis once again hit the back of the net for the 'Blues' however it was a finish by youngster Amaury Gauthier in the 89th minute that secured the three points for the 'Blues'.

The 'Blues' need to alter their line up ahead of this weekend's clash, as defender Brett Studman will miss the match due to suspension. On a positive note, captain Phil Makrys will return to the centre of the park and will look to guide his side to victory.

The competitions' newest outfit, Blacktown Spartans are in 7th position on the ladder,1 point behind the 'Blues' who have a game in hand.

Last weekend the Spartans shared the spoils with the bottom-of-the table Parramatta FC side. Greg Kondek was the sole goal scorer for the Spartans, whilst former Olympic player Joel Wood netted the equaliser for Parramatta FC.

In the previous meeting between the two clubs in Round 3 of the competition, both sides shared the three points with a 2-2 score line obtained after 90 minutes of action.

With both teams eager to obtain the three points on Sunday, fans will be treated to an entertaining battle, one that is not to be missed.
