DEFENDING CHAMPIONS HOST TABLE LEADERS AT BELMORE SPORTS GROUND

Sydney Olympic FC return to Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday 3rd June and hope to maintain their winning ways against current table leaders, Bonnyrigg White Eagles who have only been defeated once, thus far in the 2012 season.

1st Grade Kick off is scheduled at 3 pm, with the Reserve Grade side set to kick off prior at 1 pm.

The defending champions returned to winning ways last weekend in Round 9 of the competition and dominated their opposition, Sutherland Sharks with a 4 nil score line.

After obtaining a disappointing loss at Belmore two weeks ago, the ‘Blues’ travelled to the Shire and issued a convincing display. The ‘Blues’ demonstrated their desire to obtain all three points from the beginning as the defending champions played a high pressing game and created several clear cut, goal scoring chances. The home side were very much on the back foot but attempted to celebrate an early goal, through midfielder Panni Nikas who was unable an on target header.

David Gullo, looked lively throughout the encounter and provided the Blues with a 1 nil lead before the 20th minute. The ‘Blues’ added a second in the 32nd minute, courtesy of Chris Triantis who was on the receiving end of an exquisite square ball by Giannaros. The Blues continued to attack in the second stanza, as Sam Awad netted a goal, against his former side. The home side attempted to retaliate, however Olympics’ defence stood firm as substitute, Kutaiba Elrich, secured the fourth and final goal for the ‘Blues’.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles have been soaring high so far in the 2012 season, with only one loss obtained in the 2012 season.

Despite obtaining spectacular results in previous fixtures, the White Eagles struggled to dominate their opponent Parramatta FC last weekend in Round 9 of the competition, with an inability to capitalise on numerous goal scoring chances an obvious frustration.

In what was described to be a scrappy affair, the White Eagles secured a goal in the 49th minute courtesy of Mitchell Long and were happy to obtain the three points once again and secure their position as the current table leaders. The White Eagles have an astounding 8 point lead and will strive to keep it intact when they travel to Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday afternoon.

The White Eagles will set their sights on defeating the defending champions and will strive to be at their very best. Top goal scorer, Robbie Younis has had a stellar season so far and will be a definite one to watch on Sunday.
