After a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Belmore Sports Ground last Saturday in Round 8 of the NSW Premier League Competition, the defending champions will travel to Seymour Shaw on Saturday 26th May 2012, where they will set their sights on defeating their rivals, Sutherland Sharks.
The 1st Grade kick off is scheduled at 7 pm (EST).
Sydney Olympic FC dominated the Wolves last weekend at Belmore, however the result did not go their way, as missed opportunites continued to prove fatal for the defending champions who conceded two soft goals as a result of school boy errors. With the score locked at 1-1 at the half time break, it was the visitors who celebrated a 2-1 lead as veteran striker Sasho Petrovski put a damper on Olympics' spirits, after he netted a goal early in the second stanza.
The 'Blues' were once again reduced to 10 men after the hour mark as Matt Mayora received a 2nd yellow card for dissent. Despite, the one player disadvantage the 'Blues' maintained their attack and continued to press for an equaliser until the dying seconds of the game.
This Saturday night, the 'Blues' will be boosted by the return of two of their starting eleven players, Manny Giannaros and David Gullo, who both served a one game suspension.
Robbie Stanton's side, the Sutherland Sharks are set to come out firing after they encountered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Parramatta FC, with a brace by Kwabena Appiah-Kubi securing the victory for the youthful Parramatta side.
The Sharks were far from their best and like the 'Blues' were unable to capitalise upon their numerous opportunities to score. Panni Nikas was the sole goal scorer for the Sharks and will be one to watch for the home side. The talented midfielder has a wealth of playing experience and has demonstrated a knack for goals as of late, with 6 goals netted thus far in the 2012 season.
With a number of talented youth players and veterans within both squads, this Saturday's encounter will be one that is not to be missed, with an action packed contest expected in the Shire.
The Reserve Grade fixture will kick off prior to the first grade fixture at 5 pm.
