From Inaugural seasons, Premiership and Championship victories and dominating A-League opponents, Sydney Olympic FC has demonstrated that 2011 was indeed one for the record books, with the Club achieving an abundance of success over the last 12 months.

To celebrate and remember some of the successful moments of 2011, Sydney Olympic FC is conducting a poll and is inviting all members of the Sydney Olympic FC community to cast their votes and select their favourite moment and or event that took place in 2011 in our new poll

The Club has nominated the following 5 Moments and/or events from the 2011 season.

 
SOFC Grand Final Victory

On Monday 4th October 2011, Sydney Olympic FC were crowned the 2011 NSW Premier League Champions and defeated rival club Sydney United 2 nil in front of over 10,000 football fans.

SOFC 2011 Premiers

Sydney Olympic FC won their first ever NSW Premier League Premiership trophy on Sunday 4th September 2011, after defeating APIA Leichhardt Tigers 3 nil at Belmore Sports Ground.

SOFC defeat South Melbourne FC 3-2 at Lakeside Stadium

On December 11th 2011, Sydney Olympic FC travelled to the newly renovated Lakeside Stadium and defeated host club, South Melbourne FC. With both Will Angel and new signing Marco Sama scoring their first goals for the ‘Blues’ before Chris Triantis unleashed a thunderous free kick which provided Olympic with the winner.

The redevelopment of Belmore Sports Ground and Peter Moore Field

The Sydney Olympic FC Men’s and Youth squads began the 2011 season with a slight disadvantage and had to play the first round games as away fixtures whilst Belmore Sports Ground underwent renovation. At the conclusion of the 2011 season, neighbouring field Peter Moore began its own transformation and was subject to a much-needed upgrade.

The SOFC Women’s Inaugural Season

In 2011, Sydney Olympic FC entered the Football NSW Women’s Super League competition. In what was their inaugural season. A number of talented female footballers proudly represented the club in all age groups and issued several courageous and note worthy performances. Stephanie Kontakos, from the 2011 Sydney Olympic FC Under 14’s side was selected to represent the Under 14’s Girls Metro Far South 2011 squad, in what was a great achievement.
