Sydney Olympic FC Media Release

AEK Athens FC flew out of Australia on Sunday following 8 exciting days in Sydney.

Sydney Olympic Football Club would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has assisted in making AEK’s stay an exciting experience for everyone.

We would like to begin by thanking AEK Directors and Management team, Mr. Stavros Adamidis and Mr Vasilis Dimitriadis as well as the coaching staff.

A special thanks to Mr Dusan Bajevic and of course all AEK players.

Thanks and gratitude goes to Mr. Craig Nettelbeck, Director of the Sydney Festival of Football and all of his staff for the cooperation during the week that AEK was training at Belmore Sports Ground.

Sydney Olympic FC would also like to declare appreciation to Canterbury Council for their support with this event and their ground staff for the preparation of Belmore Sportsground and their immediate response to all issues during this period.

Furthermore we would like to thank all the supporters who visited Belmore Sports Ground on a daily basis. These fans were not only from the local area but from Melbourne, Canberra and  Perth.  Their support not only to AEK FC but also to Sydney Olympic FC the past few days has been remarkable.

During this period the Club has also had the opportunity to communicate with various media outlets both local and international. We would like to express to them our appreciation for their continuous support.

To the many dignitaries who attended the training sessions throughout the past week; thank you. It is with humility that we have been able to host  our offices Australian football legends  such as Rale Rasic, Terry Patalis, Peter Katholos, Jim Patikas, Giannis Haniotis and many others who we had a chance to meet over the past week.

Lastly but most importantly the Club would like to thank all the volunteers who have supported the Club over the past week with their endless hours at Belmore Sports Ground, making sure AEK FC coaches, players, Directors and fans were well looked after.

This was an event that will be remembered and cherished as it  capped off the end of a remarkable year for Sydney Olympic. On the field all our youth teams completed the normal season in  the top 5; also off the field the  many other achievements of the Club with the establishment of our new offices and the creating of a longer term home for Sydney Olympic FC at Belmore Sports Ground.
