Rale Rasic visits Sydney Olympic offices

On Saturday numerous friends, players and coaches were present at Belmore.  Between them we saw Mr Terry Patalis, Jim Patikas, Giannis Haniotis, Peter Katholos and an old friend of Dusan Bajevic, Mr. Rale Rasic.

It was a pleasure for all of the Sydney Olympic staff to see Mr. Rasic walking into Belmore Sports Ground again on Monday morning.  Mr Rasic is a good friend of Dusan Bajevic and came to Belmore to meet up with his old friend.  He was also curious to see with his own eyes everything that he has heard Sydney Olympic has done this season.

Mr Rasic had a chance to have a look at the first grade dressing rooms. He was impressed to see the new offices, hall of fame, physio room and video rooms.

Mr Rasic remained at our offices for many hours discussing the past, the present and the future of football in Australia.  He highlighted actions that Clubs such as Sydney Olympic need to undertake in order to promote the sport as well as actively participate in the development of football in Australia.

For those of you, who do not know Rale Rasic, some information can be found below:

Born in Croatia, Mr. Rasic immigrated to Australia in the early 1960s as a player in the Victorian league.  By the ’70s he had revolutionised soccer in this country and, as coach of the Socceroos, masterminded Australia’s qualification for the ’74 FIFA World Cup.
Mr. Rasic coached Sydney Olympic in 1975.

In 2001 Mr. Rasic was awarded the Australian Sports Medal and the Centenary Medal for "services to soccer" and in 2004 the Medal of the Order of Australia for "service to soccer" as a player, coach and administrator.

The Board of Sydney Olympic would like to thank Mr Rasic and the many other people who have come closer to our Club in the past few days.  The Board extends an open invitation to all, come visit our offices any day of the year and say hello.

More Photos of the training sessions of AEK have been uploaded in our gallery and it will be updated daily.
